Gelatine Paste
(this paste is very suitable for construction work)
|
2 cups icing sugar
(sifted) |
|
3 teaspoons gelatine |
|
2 teaspoons liquid
glucose or corn syrup |
|
1/4 cup water |
|
+/- 1/2 cup extra
icing sugar (sifted) |
|
vegetable fat |
METHOD
| 1. | Place
the water in small pot, add the gelatine, stir constantly over low heat
until the gelatine is completely dissolved. |
| 2. | Remove
from the heat and add the liquid glucose or corn syrup. |
| 3. |
Mix
well until the glucose or corn syrup melts, return to the heat if necessary.
DO NOT BOIL. |
| 4. |
Put
the icing sugar into a glass bowl, make a well in the centre of the sugar
and add the cooled
liquid. |
| 5. |
If
the liquid is hot, more sugar is needed, if cold, warm water is needed to
bind the mixture. |
| 6. | Keep
mixing until the sugar and liquid are well blended. |
| 7. | Apply
vegetable fat to your hands and knead in more sugar until a workable paste
is achieved. |
| Place the ball of paste in a plastic bag and then seal in a plastic container. Allow the paste to rest for 2 hrs. before using. Knead the paste once a week when not in use. Keep refrigerated in hot weather. Keeps for approx. 3 months. |
